Under 12's Match reports

Sunday 11th Oct - Hawks tournament

The Hawks U12 tournament was a great experience for our young team members with many continuing to grow in experience. Fred Van Der Tang and I split the management duties with an A and a B team both of which performed very well.

We were by far the most organised teams and used the width of the pitch well. At this stage, we would rather consider the experience and lessons learnt than focus on results, as it was a friendly tournament and everyone received a richly deserved medal for their efforts.

Everyone did really well, but special mentions for the day must go to the following:

Dirk VDT – he played very well in controlling the middle of the pitch for the team

Alexandra Cooper, who defended ferociously and with significant skill.

Zoe Taylor did a similar job to Dirk for the other team, and came closest to scoring in the game of the day versus City of Oxford A (how didn’t that go in?)

Emily and Florence Stoker who performed fantastically well, and Emily is still toting an ice pack as a further badge of honour!

Very special mentions must go to Freya Wooding and Guy Harrup who were nothing short of remarkable in their performances in goal. The look on the face of an opponent will live with me for sometime to come, as he was charged down by Guy across half the distance of the D and forced to put the ball off the side without troubling the goal!!

Well done to all involved and looking forward to continuing to build on this through the next part of the season.

NB don’t forget training as normal this weekend 11.30am followed by a trip to Reading to watch Reading 1’s take on Loughboro Students in the national League. We need to be there for 2pm for push back at 2.30pm.

Sunday 27th Sept - Rover Oxford (Away)

We had an excellent day on Sunday. Great weather and very friendly session. 24 boys and girls attending. We have the makings of an excellent u12 boys and girls side.

The U12 Girls played a rolling subs game over 3 periods and ended up winning 4-0 against Rover.

U12 Boys had two teams that played two games each. The end result was two wins, a draw and a loss. But the overall feeling was that everyone enjoyed themselves and experienced something new.

The experience was either in the form of a game against opposition, short corners, hitting to yourself, or starting to play with a team.
